These houses were carefully designed to allow for as much sunlight to penetrate the buildings as possible. Diagrams show how they were spaced to allow a minimum of four hours of sunlight to reach the ground floor on the shortest day.
They were also built at a maximum density of 12 houses to the acre to allow for as much outside green space as possible.
