This bottle was found in the grate in the back bedroom of Arthur Howell’s Corporation house. He moved into the house in the 70s and later bought it, updating various parts including the grates. The writing on the bottle shows it had come from the Farmer’s Arms pub on Burnage Lane.
We wonder whether it belonged to a building worker or perhaps was the secret stash of one of the previous tenants?
